Kindermusik was first born in 1978 by its founder Dan Pratt, whose dream was inspired by a successful German music curriculum he discovered while studying in Cologne. Since then, Kindermusik has grown to reach more than 2 million families in over 70 countries across the world.

In Kindermusik, you’ll enjoy a thoroughly engaging, energizing, and educating time with your child each week as you learn from your passionate and professionally trained teacher. And best of all, it’s a week-long experience. You’ll be given digital @Home materials to which you’ll always have permanent access. These will include all the songs from class and so much more to explore with your little one at home or on the go.

The Kindermusik story

Kindermusik with 88 Keys Piano

In 2002, Marina Lindblom received her Kindermusik Educator’s License after having taken her own little son to another program for several months. When that teacher closed the program and moved away, one of the other moms in class remarked to Marina, “You’re a musician. Why don’t you get a license and take over?”

Marina loved the idea, but at first she had to decline. She was 36 weeks pregnant with her second child and still working full-time as a violinist in the Savannah Symphony. But she kept the suggestion in mind and three years later began training for her Kindermusik license, now with her third child as the baby! In 2002 she began teaching at a rented location in Savannah. She started out with just a few enrolled families who loved the solid curriculum along with her lovely teaching style.

Along with her husband Jon, Marina grew her program to over 120 families in just a few years. The enrollment was skyrocketing as Kindermusik grew more popular among music-loving parents, but the Lindbloms had a problem: finding a permanent location. The first location they were renting from closed its doors, forcing them to find another home for their growing program. So they tried one place after the next: senior living communities, churches, music stores, dance studios, even a rented location in a strip mall. These were all great temporary holding places for the booming classes, but they weren’t a real studio that they could call their own. Marina and Jon found they couldn’t keep a clean, ideal classroom when they had to move all over Savannah, Wilmington Island, and Richmond Hill in search for a place that they could really call their studio.

In the meantime, the Lindbloms were founding their own family-owned piano business, 88 Keys Piano. [] Jon was a certified piano technician and began tuning, moving, and servicing pianos all over the Greater Coastal Empire. The company quickly expanded to selling and renting quality pre-owned pianos as well. In 2013, the Lindbloms built the 88 Keys Piano building, including a workshop and showroom, right next to their own home in Bloomingdale. It was a foreshadow of their dream for Kindermusik: an in-home facility built on their own property, centrally located near Pooler and just 9 miles west of Savannah.

Summer of 2014 finally brought the dawn of a dream come true. Marina moved her Kindermusik program from its last rented location in Pooler to its very own, family-operated studio named Kindermusik with 88 Keys Piano! The new music studio was built right next to the piano building and included everything Jon and Marina had ever wished for in their own location. The studio could be permanently decorated, kept sparkling clean, and specially prepared beforehand for each class.

Since its grand opening in 2014, Kindermusik with 88 Keys Piano has welcomed hundreds of families through its studio doors. We teach an internationally acclaimed, time tested, and research-based program, yet we continue to keep the “neighborhood community” feel in every class and provide our families with an endearing experience they’ll never forget.
